OUR MISSION:

We seek to cultivate a vibrant community of emerging and established theatre artists who possess collaborative spirits and uphold the highest standards of excellence. We seek to platform these artists and offer them real artistic community through our programming, which includes:

  • communal and affordable showcases for industry professionals

  • specialized classes and workshops

  • industry networking events

  • readings and full-scale productions

We’re carving out our own orbit in the NYC theatre scene—rallying an inclusive constellation of artists to ignite bold, ensemble-driven work that’s grounded in heart, rich in craft, and that doesn't break the bank.

OUR VALUES:

  • Collaborative, ensemble-based work.

  • Platforming underrepresented artists and underproduced works.

  • Anti-gatekeeping and demystifying the business side of this industry whenever possible.

  • High-quality theatrical work that is accessible to everyone.

  • Lead with kindness, generosity, and gratitude.

SHOWCASES

Unlike other for-profit showcase companies, the MOS showcase is non-profit backed, affordable, and returns agency to actors. Actors select their own material, help co-produce the show, and become a part of the MOS community through a two month process. This includes rehearsing with a professional theatre director, private rehearsals with their scene partner, collaborative actor work sessions, a friends & family open dress rehearsal and an industry performance(s).

for industry:

We strive to break the showcase mold by freeing industry guests from standardized note taking and q&a, instead offering an entertaining night of talent followed by a networking cocktail hour and afterparty.

PRODUCTIONS

MOS is especially focused on new and underproduced plays, including those written by playwrights from underrepresented communities. Each season will consist of readings, pieces produced and performed by our ensemble members, and full-scale productions.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

"...you’ve got to do the work. You can’t do that without preparing the work. The great ones work that hard all the way to the end.”-- Jeff Daniels

We believe for an actor, like any craft, the training never stops, but we also recognize the need for affordable, accessible, and high quality training opportunities that exist outside of larger and more costly institutional education. Our topic-specific classes and workshops will be a chance for actors to hone their skills and expand their process beyond what is offered in a traditional  training environment and are for actors seeking more affordable learning opportunities and a self-curated path to training.

Upcoming classes will to be announced soon.

The MOS Orbit is an ensemble of artists and collaborators who share our vision. More than a collective, it’s a creative home where members perform, develop new work, and bring bold, underrepresented stories to life—shaping the future of NYC indie theatre together.

We seek artists spanning the spectrum of the entertainment industry, including actors interested in producing original work and performing in the MOS season, directors, coaches, casting, producers, playwrights, technical professionals, designers and more.
